Last Call Before Virginia Beach

Written by Matt on August 31st, 2009

Alright, so not the very last call before Virginia Beach, but only one more run before we hop on a plane to get down there.  I had a very busy weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to blog at all, so here’s how it’s gone:

Day: Friday

Workout: 7 miles

Time: 1:00:11

So this was my last long run before the race this coming weekend.  I originally attempted to do this at a slow pace, but the weather was awesome out (cool and cloudy), so my body just kinda took over and there I went.  I ran a new route, which actually worked out really well.  Good mix of hills and flat runs…so the run went well.  Will have to keep that one for future training runs.

Day: Today

Workout: 2 miles

Today I just wanted to get a short run in to keep the legs loose and fresh.  On Saturday I played paintball, so my thighs were still pretty sore from squatting so much.  The out and back I did is also a good up and down hill and back up and down…so you can get a good workout in.  After 1 mile I decided to kick it into high gear for about a half mile, just to see how it felt, and it felt pretty good.  Didn’t have my Garmin on though so I have no idea how fast it was.

So the plan is one more short run on Wednesday, then a very short run Saturday morning.  Then the race Sunday!!!  Hopefully we’ll have some good weather.

For now I’m checkin out, but I’ll be back Wednesday.  Run on friends!
