So…no run today.  I know running is supposed to be very therapeutic, but sometimes I just have a day at work where all I want to do is come home, lay on the couch, watch some mindless television (or not), and just unwind.  Today was one of those days.  So I did just that…came home, laid out on the couch, and relaxed until my stomach told me it was time to eat.  Ding!
So months ago I started the 100 pushup challenge and 200 situp challenge. Â I got to the beginning of week 6 of the 6 week program, and then, well, things just fell off. Â There were spurts here and there of actually doing them, but all in all its been a long while since I’ve actually done either. Â So I thought, it’s about time to get started all over again. Â Last time I started at week 3, so I’ll probably do the same this time. Â I’ve been trying for the past 2 days to get started, but I kept getting side tracked by the desire to sleep. Â So tonight, Â I’m making a vow to do both the 100 pushup and 200 sit up challenge. Â Hopefully I don’t get side tracked.
Nothing else really going on, but tomorrow’s gonna be in the 70s again so it should make for a good run. Â We shall see….tune in next time and run on friends!
So Saturday was the Belmar 5. Â It was a race morning decision to try to run it for some speed…wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Â I had run like 3-4 times over the previous 3 weeks…but I still felt like trying it out. Â Miles 1 and 2 were good…7:52 and 7:45. Â Then, well, the heat kicked in…and man was it hot. Â The last 3 miles got progressively slower, with the last mile clocking in at 8:58. Â Finished 42 minutes flat. Â I wanted to finish under 40, around the pace I wanted to do the half marathon in, but 42 ain’t that bad. Â My girlfriend also finished a few minutes over the time she wanted to finish in, but her first mile was her fastest ever! Â Oh! Â And I beat Governor Corzine. Â It was kinda interesting seeing him there with secret service and whatnot.
