Workout: 12 Miles
Time: 1:52
Weather: Rainy
Today was probably the most unhappy 12 miler I’ve ever done. Â I’m glad I got through it, but it was not a happy time. Â First, it rained the whole time. Â But I figured, running at the Towpath, I’d have to tree cover to keep my dry. Â Wrong. Â I got even larger rain drops on me because they collected on the leaves and THEN fell on me. Â By the end of the run I was soaked. Â I literally was able to ring water out of my shirt. Â Second, I had to carry a Gatorade bottle with me. Â I do not like carrying things with me at all. Â It just throws me entire run off balance. Â Third, my legs just felt tired today…not sure why, but they just did.

The first 8 miles weren’t bad…not easy, but I wasn’t really struggling. Â Averaged around 8:45 per mile…slower than I wanted, but with the rain and the Gatorade bottle I accepted it. Â However, mile 9 I started to feel a bit tired and a bit disoriented. Â Luckily, the end of mile 9 was my scheduled stop for Gatorade and Powergel. Â However, getting started again did not go well. Â For some reason my body just did not want to run anymore. Â So the last 3 miles I ended up taking a 0.1 mile walk break every half mile. Â So my pace dropped from around 8:45 per mile to around 10:15 per mile. Â Not ideal at all. Â True, I did still get the distance in, but the run was just not what I was hoping for. Â Luckily, it’s the last long run before the race in two weeks. Â I can only hope it won’t be running.
In any case, no running tomorrow, but I’ll try to run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, then a 7 miler on Saturday. Â We’ll see how it goes.
Until then, run on friends!
P.S. Â I’m gonna try to do another video on Wednesday, with some pretty exciting news! Â Stay tuned!a

I love the fall weather for running. Â It’s the perfect mix…bright sunshine, clear skies, but relatively cool and dry air. Â You couldn’t ask for anything better. Â What’s your favorite season? Â Share your opinion in the poll on the right hand side of the screen!
