Workout: Easy Run

Distance: 3.1 miles

Today I found myself in Hoboken doing my run again, as my bathroom is currently being remodeled so I have no where to shower.  Run was good.  A thunderstorm had just passed by, so the air was clear and crisp and the NYC skyline was completely clear.  I ran the same course I did last week, and again with my girlfriend.  It’s good getting to run with her, because it keeps me at an easy pace…plus, each time we run together I see her getting better and better.  I look forward to her doing well at Virginia Beach.  She keeps this up she should be able to reach her PR.

I’m also looking forward to hitting a PR, because once I do I’m going to take a step back from running for speed and switch over to running for distance.  My friends and family think I’m crazy, but I want to run a 100 mile ultra marathon.  2 years ago I read about the Western States 100 in Runner’s World magazine, and I fell in love.  100 miles of trail running…what could be better than that?  I check the 2007 finisher times…the winner finished in like 16 hours, the last person came in around 27 hours.  I can’t wait!!

Well, I’m exhausted so I gotta get outta here.  Hope your running and lives are going well!  Thanks for reading!

Workout: 3 miles easy

Location: Hoboken, NJ

So tonight I ran in Hoboken with my girlfriend.  We ran along the waterfront, giving us some great scenery of the New York City skyline.  Granted, it was cloudy and kinda murky out, so the view wasn’t THAT great, but it’s still a good ny_hoboken_viewview no matter what.  So yeah, we ran an easy 3 miles.  She mixes in walking with her running, so we ran the first mile straight through, then she mixed in walking over the next 1.5 miles while I just ran some circles around her so I could stay with her.  Then we finished the last 0.5 miles together.

Outside of that there’s really not too much to report.  I’ve recovered completely from my near pass-out experience of last night, although my leg was bothering me during the run tonight.  I think that might have more to do with the herniated disk and pinched nerve in my back than any thing else.  But, I start physical therapy for that next week so hopefully that’ll clear up.

On the fundraising front, I’ve had one more donation come in over the past week, so once my checks post I should be around $1100.   A great start, but I still have a long way to go.  I am waiting on a possible sponsorship for a fundraising event I’m having at the Somerset Patriots ballpark, so if that comes through that’ll be great.  If not, well, not sure what else I’ll be doing for fundraising.  Care to help out?  (click donate now to the right).

Well, that’s it for now friends.  Going to visit my dad tomorrow night since he’s home now from the hospital, so I probably won’t run or blog.  So until next time…
