Friday Workout: 2 miles at an ultra marathon pace
Saturday Workout: 9 miles, 8:45 pace
Today: over 5 miles, 42:14
So I got a little distracted this weekend, but finally got a chance to sit down and catch up on my blogging.
Friday I decided to see what a few miles at the pace I plan on running the ultramarathon at would feel. Â And, just as I suspected, it felt pretty good. Â I felt like I coulda just kept running and running. Â My Garmin yelled at me a few times to slow down, but all in all I stayed at the pace I wanted to go, so it was a pretty good workout.
Saturday was the 7 am group run with Team in Training (I still need donations…please take a minute to donate now!). Â We ran in Cranford through some of the parks there. Â I’d say about 15 people showed up. Â Turned out to be a good run. Â Ran 6.5 of it with my friend Alex…we do a good job of pacing each other. Â Then he went to run with a few other people, so I had to finish up by myself. Â The last .8 was rough…didn’t think I was gonna make it. Â Guess that’s what happens when your last 9 mile run was like 5 or 6 weeks ago, and you’ve been running inconsistently since. Â But, I made it through and am glad I did.
Today I went back to that park by my house to see if I couldn’t run it a lot better than I did last time. Â This time I memorized the map before I left so I knew where to go. Â Luckily today was a little cooler, and a lot less humid. Â It turned out to be an amazing run…one of those runs where your legs just keep truckin and truckin, stayin quick and feeling good. Â I left the garmin at home…just went old school and brought my Timex watch. Â Feels good to stay simple sometimes. Â I still find it amazing that I was out there for over 40 minutes, on multiple trails, and there was NO one else out there running…it’s such a great place to run! Â Ahh well, my secret then.
Well, time for me to knock out soon. Â Keep it strong, and run on friends!
